Even though my last name is White, it does not mean I play golf and listen to Kenny G cds. I have a lot of soul despite my lack of melanin. I have been painting my whole life. I have never tried to make a living out of it because it has been my mediation, my comfort, my lover, my crack habit, my private Idaho, etc. I didn‚t want to turn it into something capitalistic. However, the more art I share with people, the more I hear that they genuinely enjoy and appreciate it. So, I am ready to stop hoarding my stuff and start exhibiting and selling it. What inspires me As a poet and advertising writer, I love words with the many meanings they have and clever metaphors.As an artist, I love color, layout and texture. As a sarcastic smart ass and Gemini, I love juxtaposed images. As a child of the 1970s and wanna be archaeologist, I appreciate old things. That's why when I am not painting, I am generally found in thrift stores looking for objects for inspiration and new projects. As a total, old school-back in the day, hands-on freak, I love using my hands away from the computer. I enjoy having tangible proof of my time and effort. I am completely okay surrendering to the art process. I do not question why I paint what I paint, what colors I use or don‚t use, etc. I combine words, color, texture, humor, nostalgia, history (all the things I love )into my art.
